An associate was in need of a hearing aid. There is no health insurance coverage for hearing aids, which left the employee trying manage the entire expense. The Ida Koran Trust provided financial assistance to the associate to purchase the hearing aid.

Beginning at the end of July triggered by the landfall of Tropical Storm Nock-ten, flooding spread through the provinces of Northern, Northeastern and Central Thailand along the Mekong and Chao Phraya river basins. Over 50 employees were affected by the flooding and needed assistance to replace and rebuild their homes. The Trust provided assistance to employees that were in need and unable to manage the financial impact of the flood.

When an associate’s community was flooded by constant rain and rising rivers, the associate and his family lost all of their personal belongings in the flood as well as major appliances, clothing and furniture. The country did not offer personal property home insurance like many other countries. The associate also needed temporary shelter until the water was removed from his home, and received funds from the Ida C. Koran Foundation not only to help him repair and replace damaged items, but also to help manage the temporary living expenses during the rebuilding process.

The modifications to the home made the use of the bathroom wheelchair accessible and a lift for stairs for the wheelchair to get to the second floor. The associate was unable to manage these expenses without the support of the Trust. The modifications to the home have given the child a sense of independence that was not present before.

The employee and her two teenage children were diagnosed with a congenital eye disease. The employee and her daughter simply required eyeglasses to correct their vision problems. However, the employee's son required surgery as his disease was progressing and more advanced. The Trust provided financial support to the employee to manage the medical expenses not covered by insurance.

The Trust provided assistance to an associate to help manage the medical expenses of his sleep apnea. The funds from the Trust also helped with the expenses for his wife and son’s medical treatment that were not covered through the country’s insurance program.
